Original Watercolour Paintings and Giclee Prints of St. Ives
in Cornwall

My love of painting original quirky houses came about after a friend lent me her delicious tiny little holiday cottage in Up-Along, St. Ives in Cornwall.

Rachel Cockerill is an artist herself who has greatly influenced my watercolour painting style. The view from her cottage inspired my first attempt at a seascape - "A Room with a View"

Motivated and enthused by being in an artist's cottage surrounded by masses of Rachel’s original works. And of course a week of glorious weather helped! contact me for further information.

Room With A View

"Room with a View" a beautifully quirky view of Cornwall

Sitting in Rachel's house in St. Ives, gazing at this unique seaside view, I was inspired to capture it in a way that did justice to St. Ives' quirky cramped, creative seaside location. Working in watercolours from her tiny sitting room, "A Room with a View" was born, showing the 'famous' two beachside cottages.

"A Room with a View" is available as a normal copy or watercolour giclee print. It is printed onto A2 Lyson Standard Fine Art paper - Size : 40 x 30 cm

These further two paintings followed closely behind as my love of St Ives and my quirky style developed.

Birds Eye View

"Bird's Eye View" - A Wonderful seaview of St. Ives Harbour

"Bird's Eye View" is the reverse image of 'Room With A View' looking back at Up-Along from the Tate in St. Ives.

St. Ives' houses all clamour to peep over the cottage in front in order to boast the all important sea view. This view frequently adds £100,000 to the price tag of a seaside cottage even if the view is from the cracked roof light in the attic!

Where Faeries Dwell

"Where Faeries Dwell" a magical watercolour picture

This intriguing picture with houses toppling from all angles came about as an attempt to bring the style of the two St. Ives paintings into a more imaginary setting with a strong spiritual message.

Again there is the observation of a lack of perspective and while the church door is open , we cannot know if anyone is within its doors or if it is a church whose leaders have found a way to make their message relevant to the troubles of our time. Meanwhile all around Mother Nature endures.
