The title was so easy to find – small mountain villages are held together and driven apart in equal measure by the “neighbour factor”. It was never possible to walk down the street without someone noticing, commenting, and passing on – “Amanda has gone to buy bread” – “She has taken the car to Teruel” ….. by the time I returned, the inhabitants of our too-narrow-to-pass-with-a-car street would ALL know where I had been, and would have embellished the purpose themselves!

What made me giggle was that there they were, questioning my movements, when they were walking around Rubielos de Mora in their dressing gowns and slippers all day without thinking anything of it at all!
