Most golfers would do anything to improve their swing.

We all want to experience the joy of a brilliant round of golf.  We want to drive further, eliminate hooking and slicing, and instead master the rhythm of the swing that allows us to whack that ball straight onto the green every time …

But the reality is that we often arrive at the Club in a hurry, having chosen an extra hour in bed over an hour’s warming up and stretching, we throw ourselves onto the first tee with just a few haphazard practice swings before launching into a jerky round that at best does not reflect our best, and at worst leaves us feeling frustrated with our game – again.

Some of us think about investing in a string of half hour lessons to help identify where we’re going wrong.  We watch videos of ourselves alongside the likes of Tiger Woods, seeing just how bad our posture or swing is and trying to take new information from the realms of the head into the body on a permanent basis.   The classes bring about some improvement, but for many there are still those nagging aches and pains that inhibit our free flowing swing from truly letting rip and hitting that ball consistently at a rip-roaring pace down the fairway.

DID YOU KNOW? ….

Did you know that if you play regularly, your body manifests force-vectors that create a “spinning top” effect? As if you were circling on the spot?

 Yoga for Golfers

Did you know that the one sided nature of the golf, as with racquet sports, can unbalance and destabilise the whole body especially the spine, shoulder and hip girdles?  Long term, this can only negatively affect your game as your body repeatedly seeks to compensate.

Did you know that by working towards easing out those imbalances in a structured and systematic way, your golfing and peripheral health issues have the potential to improve significantly?

Did you know that the inclusion of simple breathing techniques to calm and focus the mind can make a massive difference to the quality of your game?

Yoga for Golfers could help you!

Through working with simple yet challenging yoga asanas, practicing yoga breathing and learning on the spot yogic relaxation, you can bring balance and equality back to the body.

“I played today using the recovery breath technique and had the best round this year!” J.T.

With our termly yoga programme, you will progressively:

- loosen the shoulders by equalising both flexibility and strength in the superficial and deep muscles of the rotator cuffs.  This means that stiffness will ease, increasing the reach and throughput of your swing.

- strengthen, stretch and tone core muscles, giving you the advantage of a stronger core musculature generating greater core power for higher rotational speeds through the middle of the body.  This gives the potential to swing with that all important even rhythm which drives the ball further.

- open and increase flexibility through the spine and hips, increasing fluidity as fascial and muscular tensions release leading to a softening from the shoulders through to the hips giving a more authentic cohesion throughout the body.

- use simple yogic breathing techniques that calm, centre and focus, stilling the mind and grounding the body prior to each swing.  As such, there will be palpably reduced tension in the body and mind.

- relax, release and let go of underlying physical restrictions creating all round improved health and wellbeing.

All this means that your golf swing will become more fluid, steady and true!

And we all know what that means ….
